Rostrum Medical® commences first human clinical trial
Vancouver, Canada – Rostrum is pleased to announce its successful transition into human clinical trials. The first subjects were successfully enrolled using the Rostrum VQm Pulmonary Health Monitor at UC Davis (California) last week. Previously, Rostrum has completed extensive in-vivo animal testing in California, Vienna and Paris.
Awni Ayoubi, President & CEO of Rostrum Medical Innovations said ”Rostrum has dedicated the past several months working closely with its’ global network of clinicians to verify and validate the performance and safety of Rostrum’s innovative VQm Pulmonary Health Monitor (“PHM”), which provides invaluable clinical information when addressing the needs of patients on mechanical ventilators, including its’ measurements of Pulmonary Blood Flow (“PBF”)/Functional Residual Capacity (“FRC”), dead space, and proprietary Shunt Fraction Index, (“Qsi”). Rostrum is pleased to report on this important milestone in the development of its multi-utility’ VQm PHM™ despite the pandemic challenges.”
Dr. Neal Fleming, UC Davis said, “Having been involved with this project for some time, it has been encouraging to see the dedication of the Rostrum team and the progress that has come from their efforts. As this project moves into the clinical setting, I look forward to continued positive results and the demonstration of added utility to our clinical practice.”
“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully commenced our first clinical trials, and we are excited to continue with our development towards expanded regulatory clearances and market entry. Our team have made impressive commitments in developing study protocols to ensure validation of the safety and efficiency of the VQm Pulmonary Health Monitor™.” says Nathan Ayoubi, Vice President of Rostrum Medical Innovations.
